KELLY THOMA TRIO

Kelly Thoma (Cretan Lyra) presents a program of her compositions in collaboration with two wonderful musicians, Aris Kornelakis, one of the best lyra players of his generation as well as a multi-instrumentalist and composer, and Eleanna Papanikolopoulou, percussionist and leader of "Tsougranes" choir in Heraklion. The sound of the trio is strong and sensitive at the same time, with the instruments interweaving in a beautiful dance of melodies and rhythms, through instrumental compositions as well as songs and improvisations. The music is all original and has influences by various modal traditions maintaining a natural balance between the past and the present. The music consists of songs from the three albums “Anamkhara”, “7Fish” and “As the winds die down” as well as unreleased compositions . All three, having been students at the Musical Workshop Labyrinth,under the artistic direction of Ross Daly, strongly believe in the creative approach of traditional music and not its mere preservation. They promise to take you on a beautiful musical voyage with no geographical destination. Enjoy!
