LA TAREA

ABOUT LA TAREA

Rooted in the rich musical traditions of Cuba and Latin America, La Tarea use Afro-Cuban music as a vehicle to travel along musical paths from every corner of the world.
Through rhythms such as salsa, son, mambo, cha-cha-cha, cumbia, bachata, merengue, and other traditional and contemporary forms, they pay tribute to iconic artists who shaped the musical identity of Latin America and beyond.
Their influences include legendary figures such as Ibrahim Ferrer, Compay Segundo, Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaría, and Oscar D’León, as well as major figures from jazz, soul, and world music including Herbie Hancock, Nat King Cole, Ben E. King, and Bill Withers, along with more contemporary creators such as U2 and Quantic, reflecting their openness to modern sounds and cross-genre exploration.
The name La Tarea, which translates from Spanish as “homework,” carries a deeper meaning for the band. More than a simple task, it represents something to take with you — something to reflect on, a source of thought and inspiration.
Through their music, La Tarea seeks not only to entertain, but to evoke emotion and reflection — that lasting element that stays with the listener long after the final note. La Tarea is more than a performance; it is a musical experience that continues well beyond the stage.
